Okay, why do I feel like I'm doing the hokey, pokey and then you turn yourself around . . .Lmao. Anybody else? Really? It really is just me? Damn. lol. My name is EJ Kellan and I am an Indie author, presently. Being a newbie in the world of novels, short stories, and storytelling, I have yet to offer my stories to any of the recognized publishing sites. However, I am leaning toward Goodreads and Dreamspinner press. That’s not to say, that I’m not without giving, a big Thank You, to Moralfortitude.com for the exposure, opportunity, and the support it lends to its LGBT writing community. If not for this website, due to the limited time to spare from the dutiful tasks in the real world, my existence would be, almost non existent.
Rae Kitano, personal friend, and author, always finds a way to challenge me to take on new experiences. She knows it’s in my character, not to turn down a window of opportunity, not without giving it my all. So, here is what I have to contribute to this blog hop! The fours questions are: 1. What am I working on? What am I not working on, should be the question. At present, I am working on several projects. I have just finished my very first book, self – published and offered to the public. Available right here on Moral Fortitude. It’s called “Country Heart”. A story about how a younger man finds love, believing that his one sided opinion is the only one that counts. He no sooner learns, that wisdom and maturity held by the handsome cowboy don’t agree. I began my writing on Wattpad a little over three years ago. It is a great community and has become a priceless learning tool to gain experience for the true beginner. A great place to get your feet wet. As well as, offering the opportunity for growth. I’ll admit I have a lot to learn, even still, I believe, I’ve grown in writing since my very first chapter. We’ll just have to see, I guess when I put it out there for the rest of the publishing world to critique. Now that’s scary. I am an artist, creator, and romantic at heart. Which is why the next bit, is going to sound like a bunch of gibberish. Lol. As an artist and creator, I am trying my hand at eBook covers. There’s not many now, but there will be soon. You can find two more of my stories I offer as well. Click and Read. : ) “Risk” - Inspired by personal decisions we make as human beings and the questions we have to ask ourselves when we know we will have to face consequences regardless of our actions. “Outside of Picture Perfect” - A triumphant story about a boy who becomes a man while surviving trying times. His search for a new beginning in life challenges his understanding about trust, hope, and why, we love the people we do. P.S. Did I mention these two are FREE for download! Please email me, or leave a review. I love hearing from the readers If you would like to more of my earlier stories at Wattpad, Click this link. Dragonious aka EJ Kellan I am also working on my very first submissions to submit to Dreamspinner Press and Goodreads. Wish me luck! 2. How does my work differ from others of its genre? I do my best to try to be as unique as possible. I want the reader to share the experience as the character lives or has lived it. Now, don’t get me wrong here, romance is great. Everybody loves a great ending. As a reader, though, I don’t want just a happy ending, because I’m greedy that way. Lol. I’m a huge fan of the underdog! Sure, half naked guys on the cover are a great incentive, as are the sex scenes. Romance and a triumph of love? There is no poetic chemistry greater than when you tie these two together! You can’t go wrong. I agree. So, what happens when you throw in a tiny bit of chance? Or, that depressing moment when you feel your heart sink? You’re hanging on to that last string of hope? How could it get any worse? Tears are about to fall, emotions are getting all tied up inside. Come on already! Tell me! …. Lol. Trust me! There’s nothing better than when you’re sitting on the edge of your seat. The anticipation begins to stir. When the truth is, you don’t know what’s coming next as much you’d like to think you do. That’s why, you have to keep reading. : ) I’m a visual kind of person. So, maybe it stands to reason, that this is why I choose to write in first person. I want to feel, imagine, and most of all, experience. I want to be as close as I can with the character. Not only in mind, but in spirit as well. This is an exhilarating feeling when you’re all caught up in the story. There’s nothing better than when love triumphs and you feel like you’ve just survived an ordeal of a lifetime that warms the heart. This is what I try to do for my readers. Okay, so I’m a little long winded. Lol. 3. Why do I write what I do? I love the way the my partner makes me feel. The love, the caressing of his touch. Knowing win or lose, we go through it together. Even when life isn’t being fair, at least I know I’m not alone. There’s no better feeling than love and being loved. I can chase away trying times and let someone else carry the burdens for a while with a good book. 4. How does my writing process work? This makes me laugh out loud because I know, that no matter what I say, in the end? I want to feel. I write during all hours. Odd hours, I guess you would say. I’ve been known to write in the early morning hours before my day starts. It helps me concentrate, when the room is quiet and the tv isn’t blaring with Umizoomi’s or Dora. Lol. No, pans and pots clinking in the kitchen while dinner is being made. Sometimes, I even ignore my daily duties as a civilized human being when I get deeply involved in my writing. This gets me into more trouble than I care to admit. In any case, my thinking process is widespread. There are times I will plan out the detail first, when I know I’m headed for difficult chapters at a time. Other times, when I feel like it’s going to be short and sweet, it may all simply be off the top of my head. Just wing it, I tell myself. It will come. Lol. I don’t know why, but it works. I may write a page or two, take a twenty minute break waiting for the next scene to be born. I don’t always know which way my story is headed or how the events will happen. I only know of the message I want to get across to my readers. The rest is heavily relied on through pure instinct. There you have it folks! That’s me in a nutshell. Feel free to look around! Comment, leave a review, send me an email. Somebody give me a cookie! Sincerely, EJ Kellan “Drago” aka
